The word 'Chakra' comes from the Sanskrit, meaning 'wheel' or 'disk'. These moderators of subtle energy are traditionally depicted as lotus flowers, each resonating at different frequencies, corresponding to the colours of the rainbow. Although the human energy system is said to have many 'Chakra's', and new ones being discovered all the time, the traditional Hindu system names 7 major Chakra's, metaphysically embedded into the spinal column, or sushumna, from the coccyx to the crown of the head.

'Chakra's are Psychic centres in the body that are active all the time. Energy moves through the Chakra's to produce different psychic states.
